This is my newest paper-pieced block (Block by Carol Doak). It measures 5 1/4 in. by 5 1/4 in. finished without the white border. I made it to use as a little pocket on the front of the camp bags we are making for the 15 young women that are going to girls' camp next month. Those making the decisions on what we're are going to use decided they did not want to use the block so now I need to decide what to do with 15 of these darling blocks.
If you would like to leave a comment about how I could use these cute blocks (not necessarily with the white border) I will send a Fat Quarter of Kaffe Fassett fabric to the owner of the suggestion I use. A winner will be chosen on June 15, 2010!!

Kris they are darling...you could use them to make a Sewing machine cover that way you would remember what a sweet person you were for making them for the girls...I am dissapointed for you that the higher achy chose not to use them....
The blocks are beautiful Kris, and I love the colors. I think they would make an adorable Spring table topper or a mini quilt but turned on point and using a solid square in each alternating space. Here is a link to my blog, scroll down to the little floral top with borders. http://tinyurl.com/38t9kkv
I think if you made one more block and set them 4x4, it would be perfect.
i think they are beautiful and they are REALLY
going to be sad they didnt us eit. You can turn it into a charity quilt. or a quilt to raffle off for relay for life, purple sashing or any shade you care for....but if you dont then I would use them to make totes for another group. charity or quilt bee or guild.
share your art with the world!
Love the block. (got here by Carol Doak's list). I think that it would make a great small quilt with the hot pink being sashing between each block. Great for a table topper, lap quilt or even a wall hanging. Do you have a cover for your sewing machine? I think it would even look great made into a machine cover. It would be a cheerful greeting each day you sit down to sew.

Definitely ditch the white border. I would set them 3 x 5, no sashing, so you'd get a cool shape from the florals. I'd do a fairly simple border and you'll have a smashing wallhanging. You could also add some other blocks to make it longer for a table runner.
Their loss, Kris! I would set them on point (three in first row, two in second, etc) and offer it to your local hospital for a little girl whose day needs cheering up. If you kept the white around them, then sashed them with some lime green, I think it would be cute, cute, cute! :)

How about a preemie quilt? Set them 3x5 with a colorful sashing between the blocks and a border of the floral print. Probably just the right size for a tiny baby girl.

I think these beautiful blocks would make an absolutely smashing border on a skirt or jacket. Or, maybe both! Great summer colors, so have fun with them, and let the world see how creative you truly are!!
Choose one of the girls while spending time with them, who you feel may be interested in quilting , help her make a quilt from them. Not such a wasted effort. Seeds sewn for a future quilter. Pass it on Jenni
You could have a cute little table quilt with 3 block across and 5 blocks down. And I'm thinking a little PP'ed border all around with the floral and the dark pink points
They are so cute! Let's see if I can explain this--ready? :) Put a small sashing between each block-(don't want to loose those cute blocks with sashing-:)) yellow fabric...same as the center?, turn them on-point, then place them four in the first row, then three-nestled up to the first row, then four, then three. You'll have one left over...which you could use to make a really cute label! Then use the same color as the sashing for the open areas...to make it square...add a thin border of the green, followed by a little bigger one of the flowered fabric. I know NICU's like the quilts to be 36"x36" to cover the isolets, so hopefully you can get close. Then donate to a hospital or some little girl who could use the love and comfort from your heart. :) Good Luck! Keep us all posted! Would love to see a pic of your final project. Cheryl
what about creating a small lap quilt or shoulder warmer in quillow (quilt-pillow) style for chemo or other long-term treatment patients. they don't need large quilts, just little ones to break a chill, block a draft, etc.
I think the hiarchy are a pain. You could get each of the girls to sign their name in the centre yellow square. Then make up as a wall hanging. Put the group name and year in the border to finish it off. You could then hang it where all can see it. I think the blocks are fantastic. You are a star. Lyn
Very cute blocks! I'm thinking a small quilt with the blocks alternating with snowball blocks - print in center and hot pink edges. I don't understand why the others wouldn't want them as pockets, but their loss is your gain!

Make a wee secret purse and present to each girl yourself as an encouragement award, they can keep secret treasures from the camp in. My daughter would have loved that. It also makes girls aware you care, and you never know where that leads. Alice once on camp was presented with a light house bag by one of the leaders, she has loved light houses ever since. Good luck with it . Go to the inner girl Kris you will find your answer Jen
I think a charity quilt is a great idea!
Don't know if you made the comment, I clicked on link below the comment... but today's the 15th of June, not July. :-) May-be the comment should've been the last day u take comments is July 15th. don't know. May-be I misread -- I'm good at that lately. LOL
Lovely blocks, I would make a little bag for each of the girls or maybe there is time at the camp to teach them how to make there own little bag ? and maybe the date of the camp can be put on the back as a little memnto of the camp They are special little blocks and sew pretty, A sweet memory for each.
How about a block made of blocks... as in a 3-D block like dice. It would take six blocks to make a cube. Leave a hole and stuff it. You would have enough to make 2 cubes. they would make sweet baby gifts or quilty friend gifts.
Take 2 of the remaining blocks and sew them right sides together leaving a turning hole. Fill with fibre fill, sew closed. put a button on the top and stitch through all the layers and pull tight. It would make a darling pin cushion! Make another pin cushion using the last block and a contrasting back.
