Slow Stitchin' Sunday

Well, it snowed all day yesterday - I think we got between 6-8 inches and so today I think I am going to just stay inside (after I get home from Church) and work on this cute little embroidery ~

It is the February block of Sweet Gatherings' "All Through the Year" Snowman Quilt.  It's an older pattern - I think it is from 2002.

Fun News and Not so Fun News . . .

First of all, the fun news is that my February UFO quilt went to the Charity Auction this past Saturday night (I did get it done - even though I was still binding it an hour before we left for the dinner) and this sweet lady bought it for $175.00!!  Woo!!  Hoo!!

The not so fun news is that I am getting in the car this morning to travel to Colorado springs to be a witness in a civil trial!!  Ickk!!  Then onto St. George (the south end of Utah) for the funeral of my cute little friend that I made the green scarf (a January UFO) for last month.

So, I will be back next week!!  Gosh, I even forgot my "Saturday Smile" post this past Saturday, but I scheduled one for this coming Saturday!!  Everyone have a great week!!

My First February UFO Has Been Chosen!!

or should I say it chose me!!

I know, I know, it's another strip quilt but they are so fast and easy and this quilt is going to be part of the live charity auction for the Children's Justice Center here in Logan.  Quilt was made with Howard Marcus' Collection for a Cause - Warmth Jelly Roll.

I am going to back it in this darling vintage fabric that came from Howard Marcus' Collections Alliance ~

And the best part of this type of UFO is that it has a due date  - this coming Saturday night - and so it HAS to morph into a real quilt!!  Woo! Hoo!!

On Thurday, I am going to link up with ~

The Two Winners from the Dare to Dresden Blog Hop!!

I want to thank all of you that stopped by during the blog hop to see my very first try at a Dresden Plate and for all the wonderful comments that you left and especially for the time you all took to offer suggestions for quilting.

So, now it is time to announce the first winner and that winner, chosen by Mr. Randon Generator, is ~

Drum roll please ~

True Random Number Generator  18Powered by RANDOM.ORG

And Vicki T is #18!!  Vicki does not have a blog, so I can't send you over to visit her but this is what she said:

"What a beautiful Dresden. I have often looked at Kaffe fabrics but haven't bought any of them yet. I think maybe I need to pick some up after seeing this. Your closeup of the stitching is awseome. Great job. I'd love to be able to stitch that well."

Shhhhhhhhhh, don't tell Vicki that the stitching around the blades was done by machine!!

The second winner is my choice with regard to how to quilt this gigantic Dresden Plate.  So many of you suggested an echo design and that is what I have decided to do, but the person I chose to win the second gift went over & above and actually copied the picture of the quilt that hung on my Armoire, drew out how she would quilt it if it was on her machine, scanned the picture with her design on it and emailed it to me!!  Wow, I was totally impressed with all she went through and so, Thearica over at Pigtales and Quilts, you are also a winner!!

If you will both send me an email with your snail mail I will get your fun gifts off to you!

Again, my most sincere gratitude to all of you and a big hug for all of my darling "followers" both old and new!!  You make this blogging stuff soooooo much fun!!

Happy Ground Hog Day!!

When the Pennsylvania groundhog emerged from his dwelling at Gobbler's Knob this morning, he did not see his shadow.
"And so ye faithful, there is no shadow to see, an early Spring for you and me!!"

According to folklore, if a groundhog emerges from its burrow and see its shadow, then six more weeks of winter weather is on the way.
But if it comes out and sees no shadow, spring is expected to come early.

Ha! Ha!!  Get it???  :-)
