Veterans' Quilts on their Way to Alaska!!

Well, I finally got the bindings completed and the labels on the 2 quilts and they are on their way this morning!!

Each month one of the gals at Guild gets to chose the block design and colors she wants to use for  the blocks that we will all make.  Then, the quilt will be assembled by her.  This quilt below is the one Janice designed ~

And this quilt is one of two that Susan created.  I still need to quilt and bind the other one she pieced.  She did 2 quilts because we all made enough blocks to make 2 quilts.

Hard to believe how expensive it is to send these quilts.  We can thank our Guild member, Bobbie for the contribution she made which has allowed us to send these two quilts and hopfuly 3-4 more.

My French Cartonnage is Done!!

It's not perfect but I think it is one of the cutest things I have ever made.  And ya know, practice makes perfect so . . .

The class had a different front but I liked the scalloped edge better so I took the challenge and went with it.  Love it!!

On the Facebook page several gals had used polka dots and so I changed my mind midstream and did the sides in Kaffe Fassett Spots.  When I look at the back like this, it looks like it is on crooked but I think I need to be more carful next time when I put the dotted fabric on so it is straight.

I already have another box in mind and my brother Kelly is thinking about a fancy-schmancy custom box that he wants for his pictures and memorabilia that he collected on his trip to Paris and Italy a couple of years ago.

I'm Learning a New Addiction!!

I took an on-line class last week to learn how to make French Cartonnage Boxes.  Of course with everything else in my life I only got the first step completed ~

This may have turned out to be a very dangerous class!!  More to come!!

It's Been A Long Time . . . .

since I have been able to do much sewing, but I did manage to get the main part of the Quilt-a-Long Facebook group I belong to completed.  I usually get to about clue 2 on any of the previous Mystery Quilts I have attempted in the past because I have never been any good at picking out a bunch of fabrics all up front and then building the quilt top without knowing what it is going to look like.

This time I lucked out and this Mystery Quilt turned out beautifully ~

To finish it there are 4 borders, quilting it and binding!!
