Project #3 for the Hour-A-Day Experiment . . .

As part of my one hour a day sewing, I wanted to finish up some of my hundreds, yes that is hundreds, of UFOs.  While I was going through all my stash to find the fabrics for the Frolic Mystery Quilt, I ran across a couple of blocks from my "Peter Max" 4-patch stack & whack quilt and thought this would be a fun, colorful project to work on during the winter!!

I thought I had more than these two blocks finished but these were the only only ones I could find for now.

I love stack and whack quilts!!  In a way they are like a mystery quilt in that you have no idea what you are going to end up with.  Each block can actually be 4 different blocks depending on how you flip them.

In a future post, I will lay one block in the 4 different ways it can be sewn together and we can see how different one block set can look!!

Have you made a stack and whack quilt and did you enjoy or or not?

Part 2 of the Frolic Mystery Quilt came out and I will be working on that this coming week as well as this one!!

Oh, and today is my sweet Pop's birthday!!  Ha! Ha!  He would be 102 years old!!  Now, that is old!! But I do have to say I miss him and think of him every single day!!

Until next time!!

Black Friday - Part #1 . . .

of the Frolic Mystery Quilt was to cut a whole bunch of the red and blue strips and sew them together.  Then sub-cut them into 144 - 4 patches.  Saturday and this afternoon, I was able to get the strips cut and sewn together and some of the 4 patches cut, sewn together and pressed!!

I am pretty sure I do not have enough strips sewn together but I have until this coming Friday to complete this task before Part #2 comes out!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Well, after seeing all the fabrics in a picture, I think I am mostly ready for the first clue reveal tomorrow for the Frolic Mystery Quilt.

Even though the "red" is not the same purply-red of the paint chip, I did have lots of reds that will go together and work with my other colors.

My light blues are a little on the weak side but I was so impressed with my stash that it was able to cough up that many different pieces that worked for the turquiose color.  The two light colors are suggested to use different fabrics for those colors but I will be using just one fabric for each of the lights!!  Oh, and the green was so perfect you can hardly see the paint chip!!

I am excited to get this Mystery Quilt going!!  If anyone has a suggestion on a fabric to pull from the different groups please take the time to leave a comment!!  You can click on the picture to get a larger look!!

I hope you all have a wonderful day of family, food, love and hopefully a nap!!  Until tomorrow!!

I've learned a Lesson About My Fabrics in My Stash . . .

They are not fun, bright colors!!  LOL!!  And I have spent 3 days (at 1 hour per day) going through my stash looking for fabrics that will hopefully work for the Frolic Mystery Quilt.  I am close but still looking for a few more!!

It's already too dark today to get good pictures so I will post my choices tomorrow morning!!  In the meantime, here are a couple of pictures of the darling quilt I am working on for a client today ~

I should take a lesson from Diane about fun, bright colored fabric!!

Slow Sunday Stitchin"

I asked one of my longarm clients if I could bind her quilt so I could have a little Slow Stitchin' today and she agreed.

Not a great picture but a very fun quilt!!  Thanks, Kay!!

First Day of Experiment!!

Ok, so today is the first day of my process to get some of my own sewing done each day!!

Today I took one of 2 Regent Street 2016 Jelly Rolls and cut it all up into 2-1/2 inch squares.  This Jelly Roll is a sweet "Liberty of London" looking collection and I have wanted to do something with these Jelly Rolls for a long time.

After cutting them up I threw them into a basket and gave them good toss!!

This is the gridded interfacing I use to make beautiful blocks!!

And this is how I am going to lay out the blocks ~

I also started working through my stash for Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt!!

Tomorrow is Sunday so I will be finding some fun Slow Stitchin' to do and then get back to my one hour of fun on Monday!!

Saturday's Smile!!

An Experiment!!

Well, I have been complaining for months now that I never get any of my own sewing done because life has other things for me to do.  So, I have decided to try an experiment until the end of the year and by that time it should be a habit!!

I am going to spend one hour a day working on projects that I want to do with some Slow Stitchin' on Sundays!!  Nothing for anyone else in that hour, JUST ME!!  :-)

I have decided on several projects and as I post, hopefully every day as that is part of the experiment, you will see what I am working on!!

Now to be disciplined.  I have settled on 3 projects to work on until one is complete.  Then I can start a new project.  But always just keeping 3 going at any one time!!

The first project I have decided to do is Bonnie K. Hunter's new Mystery Quilt:

So far she has revealed the colors ~

And as I set the color chips out on my ironing board cover to take a picture, I thought YES!!  I want to use that fabric in the quilt!!

Bonnie has also reveled the amounts for each color and I need to get that fabric out of my stash!!  Then, on Black Friday she is going to reveal the first clue.  If I am not mistaken, she reveals one clue a week.

Ok, here goes!!

Dianne is One of My Favorite Gals . . .

that I longarm quilt for!!  Her quilts are all her original designs and they are designed specifically with the person the quilt is being made for in mind!!

This one is for a granddaughter that loves butterflies and purple and has a black cat!!

Purple Minky on the back!!  Some of the white fabric on the front has fireflies, so this quilting pattern was perfect!!  The black cat is appliquéd on and is made with velvet!!

Sooooo much fun!!

It's Canning Season . . .

and this year, between working on Martha and all the other fun things I do, this is what I have been making!!

A friend was out and about this past week and saw a big patch of blackberries and pulled over two he side of the road, got out and picked a couple of gallons of the gorgeous berries!!  They grow wild everywhere here!!

She just dropped by on her way home and gave me a gallon of berries!!  This is what I made!!  and freshly picked berries made the most exquisite jam!!  Thank you, Kim!!

Ha! Ha!  I have already given most of it away or slathered it on buttered toast!!  Yummm!!

Enjoying the Summer!!

I have been quite busy this summer, mostly quilting customer quilts ~

This scrappy quilt is one of my very favorites!!

And I love Laurel Burch, so this one was fun to work on!!

But then I needed some sewing time and so I decided to dive into one of my Kaffe Fassett bins and started playing with some blocks.  I started out making some 25-patch blocks . . .

and then decided to try a scrappy round the world using the gridded iron-on interfacing!!

Plus I have been doing a bit of sorting and straightening in both Martha's Cottage and in my sewing room!!  Feels good!!
