Tryin' Something New . . .

Ever since my dream bubble was delayed - who knows, my dream of living near the beach may still happen - I have had very little motiviation to get much done.  So, I decided to play a game with myself.

Years ago, I used to put each of my house chores on a piece of paper and put them into a big bowl.  I would pick one out, set the time for 30 minutes and work on that chore.  Then onto the next 30 minute chore.  Well, it worked for me.  I think these days there is a name for that kind of behavior: ADHD.  :-)) Whatever!!

So, I have decided to incorporate that idea into a new game!!  I am going to randomly pull out one of my many, many, many, many bins and containers and see what is inside.  If it is a project (one or more), I have to finish one of the projects before moving onto a new bin or container .  If it is a container full of fabric or patterns, etc., I will put the contents into appropriate places or leave them in that container and LABEl the container - no ADHD stuff going on here!!

This is my first try at it today ~

I cleaned out the basket on my livingroom table, put some of the projects into some empty containers and decided I was going to use up this Scrubby ball of fibers.  So, while watching Mars Attacks, funny, funny irreverent movie, and a couple of HGTV episodes, I completed the ball and made 3 kitchen scrubbies!!

Hey, this idea is working!  Well, at least for one day so far, but who knows . . . . ?

I Got Me a New Toy and a Giveaway!!

Hi Everyone!!

I am looking for some help if you would be kind enough to leave a comment with your thoughts!!

I just got a new toy - the Accuquilt - and I would like to see if there is an audience for pre-cut shapes with a fusible on the back to make appliquéing easier and lots of fun.

So, here are my questions:

 1. Would you purchase pre-cut shapes - I have shown the Christmas Tree here - that already have the fusing on the back?

 2. If yes, how much would you pay, say, per shape?  This is a critical answer here, please!!

 3. Would you rather have a set of matching trees (or other shapes) or would you rather have the set consist of the same fabric?

 4. How many should be in a set?

I would sure appreciate your help and if you leave a comment with answers to all the above questions, I will put your name in a pot and randomly pick out a winner to get a set of pre-cut shapes!!
This is back side showing the fusing

THANK YOU!!

Look how cute, I just made these:

Is It June 2016 Yet?

Well, just barely so here are my Flowers for Molly in Texas in the Inchy Hexagon Flower swap ~

I was on hiatus for several months, so it is nice getting to make these little cuties again.  Molly did not care what her petals were but she wanted yellow centers!!  Yellow centers it is!!

Happy Veterans Day!!

This holiday is especially poignant to me because my older brother served 2 tours in Vietnam.  He thankfully came home in one piece but with time he started having lots of problems including diabetes, blindness, 9 stents in his heart, a pacemaker, a defibulator and neuropathy from his knees down to his feet all due to Agent Orange.

I so pray that the new President-elect will keep his promise to the Veterans of this amazing Country and do more for the Veterans who sacrifice long periods of their lives and sometimes the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live in this Country with all our freedoms!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Another Finish - Another Gift . . .

If you follow my posts, you know that I bought a cute little fixer-upper house in Bandon, Oregon this past summer contingent upon the sell of my home here in Logan.  Well, you also know that the dream went poof! and I am staying here for the duration.

But the darling Realtor in Oregon put a lot of time and energy into the transaction and ended up with a big goose egg!!  And it makes me so sad, because this would have been her very first sale!!

So, I decided I would make her a quilt.  I called to make conversation with her one day and found out that she is not the typical Oregon coast quilter who loves and adores batiks - no, she still loved the "calicos!!"  Yikes, I am not really sure what makes a fabric a calico except that I know flowers are involved.

For years I have been working on these vanishing 9-patch blocks, kind of like a leader-ender quilt scenario, and thought, "Well, I know these are 1930's reproduction fabrics but look, lots of flowers!!"  So, I finished up the remaining blocks, put it together with a flowery border and added flowers as the backing and the binding.  My rendition of a calico quilt!!  Very old fashion-ish!!

I look at this quilt and it makes me smile!!  I hope Anne feels the same way!!

Closer and Closer . . .

Ok, now this is really turning out to be a labor of love!!  See the fairly small pile of strings on top of the rug?  Those strings took almost three hours to prepare and there is probably only enough of them to go around the perimeter maybe twice!!  Yikes!!

But always remember ~

Oh, Look!! Something Shiny . . .

Ok, so I got a bit sidetracked from my World Series crocheted rug.  I was messing around on the Internet yesterday and came across this website called Simply Notable where she was demonstrating how to make a crocheted yarn bowl.  So while I was watching the game last night I made this ~

Now tonight there is no game, but I got lots and lots of strips all cut and ready to work on the rug tomorrow night for game 3!!

The World Series Starts Tonight!!

It is between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians!!  Yeah, yeah, who cares!!  But I have set myself a goal:  my crocheted rag rug is going to be as big as it is going to be at the end of the World Series!!  Hopefully we will have 7 games so I will have lots of time!!

Here is my progress:

Youch!!  Looking at these two pictures next to each other it sure doesn't seem like I have gotten very far, does it?  Right now it measures 26".  I am not sure how big it was on the first picture.

Holly, I am not sure it is going to be "6 foot or bust"!!  Funny, I was just whipping around the circle in the early rounds but now, it is taking longer and longer for each round!!  Really?

Workin', workin', workin' away!!
