but I finally finished my Swap quilt for Janet O. over at Rogue Quilter.
If you follow Janet's blog at all you know she is the Queen of Miniature Quilts and I do mean miniature!! I guess I have been a bit busy since the beginning of the year, but even more than that, I had a really hard time making this quilt for Janet. I knew she loved nine-patches and really liked them on point, so that is where I started.
First, this is the darling quilt she sent me along with some other wonderful goodies, including some great scissors that I am sorry to say are somewhere between the house, the Cottage and the new Retreat and so I don't have a picture of them.
EDIT!! Found my fun new scissors IN THE HOUSE!!
And here is the quilt Janet made for me in the swap ~
Did I mention how tiny this quilt really is? About 7" by 9", so you can figure out just how small each of those nine-patches are!!
So, since my miniature quilt turned out a LOT larger than this one, I named it the "Big Mini". Actually a friend suggested the name and I thought it was perfect!!
Even my label looks huge compared to Janet's whole quilt!! LOL!!
So, here is the quilt I sent to Janet ~
In retrospect, after seeing a picture of this quilt, I wish I had added some borders to it or at least completed the binding in a contrasting fabric.
I did fussy cut the full blocks ~
and that was fun!!
So, here is why Janet's new quilt is the "Big Mini" ~
I didn't think Janet was going to get her package until today but apparently she got it yesterday, so you can see her post HERE. Hope one day we can swap again - maybe after my renovation looks like a home and not a construction zone!!

Well, I am Learning A lot . . .
about what is is like to be a longer quilter!! Yikes!! The learning curve is huge and now I am finding that somehow I have managed to screw up the tension. But before the tension went south, I was able to get this darling baby quilt completed!!
Look at the cute pattern I quilted!! Baaaaaa!
And I machine sew my binding onto the back and then wrap it around and handset it to the front. Is that kay to do it that way, because I sew most quilts are done just the opposite.
I have been asked by a friend to share a booth with her in November at the Langlois Holiday Craft Show and I would like to make some quilts this size. Do any of you have an opinion as to how much I should charge? They are 40" x 40" finished.
Well, off to play with the tension on Martha!!

More Newport Quilt Show Quilts . . .
I think this is one of my very favorite shows because there are so many quilts and they are all fabulous. Here are a few more of my favorites ~
These fireflies were amazing. The way the artist used the yellow in the middle really made it look like they were flying toward a light!!
This one I took especially for Janet O over at Rogue Quilter!! She LOVES miniature quilts and this one is about 14" by 14". Ok, Janet, here is a challenge for you!! :-)
This is a close-up of the one above. The stitching is a cart above the horses!! This was an amazing piece!!
This cute couple was walking past my booth so I ran to take a picture of them they were soooooo cute together. After chatting with them for a few minutes, the hubby said that his sweet wife and he used the word sweet was one of the original founders of the Newport Quilt Show!!
Hope you enjoyed all the gorgeous quilts!!

Newport Quilt Show
was last weekend and there were some of the most extraordinary quilts displayed!! Here are a few of my favorites ~
This darling quilt is the one that hung right across from my booth!! Love the quilting!!
I think a lot of folks loved the flamingos because it had it picture taken many, many times!! And look at ALL the ribbons!!
I just love the sweetness of this quilt!! It makes me want to wrap up in it with a good book!
Lots and lots of batiks!! The Newport girls love their batiks!!
I had seen a quilt like this on on Facebook but to see it up close was a real treat!! Very modern, but very fun!!
More batiks!!
Simple but great colors!!
One of my very favorites!!
And I want to make one like this some day - some day!!
