If you follow my posts, you know that I bought a cute little fixer-upper house in Bandon, Oregon this past summer contingent upon the sell of my home here in Logan. Well, you also know that the dream went poof! and I am staying here for the duration.
But the darling Realtor in Oregon put a lot of time and energy into the transaction and ended up with a big goose egg!! And it makes me so sad, because this would have been her very first sale!!
So, I decided I would make her a quilt. I called to make conversation with her one day and found out that she is not the typical Oregon coast quilter who loves and adores batiks - no, she still loved the "calicos!!" Yikes, I am not really sure what makes a fabric a calico except that I know flowers are involved.
For years I have been working on these vanishing 9-patch blocks, kind of like a leader-ender quilt scenario, and thought, "Well, I know these are 1930's reproduction fabrics but look, lots of flowers!!" So, I finished up the remaining blocks, put it together with a flowery border and added flowers as the backing and the binding. My rendition of a calico quilt!! Very old fashion-ish!!
I look at this quilt and it makes me smile!! I hope Anne feels the same way!!

How can she help but love it? It is such a happy quilt, and very good of you to do that for her!
Yes, calicos are tiny flower prints - so you did good. It is a happy quilt indeed and I am sure she is going to love it.
She will love it and I am glad you are still close so SOMEDAY we might actually meet.
She'll just love it! I'm sorry your housing plans didn't come to fruition! XO
She will love it..because you took the time to make it just for her! Most people in life do not receive gifts from strangers or acquaintances and when they do..it is an over whelming feeling inside. You did good!
