I have been talking for weeks about making some hexies but now that I am ready to start, I am not sure how to figure out a 1" hexie. Do I measure along the side to get the 1" or do I measure across the hexegon to get the 1"?
I would appreciate some help from those of you that make your hexies using paper templates!!
P.S. If these are your hexies, would you let me know so I can give you credit??

My understanding is that a 1" hex is the length of each side, not the overall measurement. Here's another link that you might find helpful:

I can send a template if you like. Looks like someone already beat me to the punch on that one though. BTW: For those of you who do these, I have found that the best paper to use is parchment paper, like that shaded paper you use for calligraphy to make it look old. It is just a bit heavier than copy paper, but not near as heavy as cardstock so it holds it shape well.

I print my own out on card stock with this web site. I punch a hole (2 in larger ones) in the center to help with the removal. The size of the hexie is the side measurement. I make them just as embellishments - couldn't fathom doing a grandmother's garden quilt.
