Christmas Elves

This is my brother and me so states the creator of these darling little elves!!  Since the yellow one has a fatter face, I deemed that one was me and the one in blue, is of course my brother.  Get it - blue = boy!!

Are they darling or what?  They make up the Christmas Tree so much more festive!!  Thank you LuAnn!!

Slow Sunday Night Stitchin' . . .

A sweet friend of mine saw a gorgeous sweather on an email from this yarn shop we follow in New York City: Soho Yarns.  Well, she is a new knitter and thought it was beyond her ability so she emailed me and asked me if I thought one of the gals down at our local yarn shop would knit it for her if she paid them!!  I emailed her back and said: "I'll make it for you just for the pleasure of working with that gorgeous yarn!!"  So, she is letting me!!  YAY!!

Here is a picture of the sweater ~

Here is the yarn she chose (different from the yarn called for): Madelinetosh - Tosh Sport Yarn in Calligraphy ~

And this is how far I have completed - about 4".  What is so cool about this pattern is that there are NO seams!!  And, yup, the yarn has a wonderful hand and works up sooooo beautifully.  And the wooden needles are so fun to work with!!

I am linking up with Slow sunday Stitching over at Kathy's Quilts - go check out what everyone else is working on!!

It's Begining to Look a Lot Like Christmas . . .

My brother Kelly loves Christmas time.  Me not so much, but I am trying to be festive for his sake.  He has this darling little village ~

It looks so sweet at night with the lights on!!  Next, we are going to decorate the little Norfolk Pine tree that I have kept alive for the past 5 years.

Heaven and Earth Cross Stitch Design

A Heaven and Earth Design also known as a HAED is a counted cross stitch that is done typically on a cloth that has lots of threads within one inch or the thread count.  An HAED is typically stiched across one thread as opposed to across two threads.

So, I joined this Facebook group where all these crazy people were working on these HAEDs and so I decided I would start the one that I got a little over a year ago right after Cecil the lion was killed by the crumb-bum American dentist (you can read about Cecil HERE) in a cruel and inhuman way.

Heaven and Earth Design offered this gorgeous counted cross stitch as a tribute to Cecil ~

Now the design is 14" wide by 10" high and will consist of 92,050 stiches when complete!!

Here is what I have gotten done so far ~

I am doing mine on 26 ct even weave and this is 100 stitches.  It measures about 3/8" x 3/8" (You can click on the picture to get a closer look).  My goal is to have this done by my 70th birthday!!

This will either keep me young or drive me crazy!!

First of Many . . .

bins was broken into today.  Luckily, there was mostly fabric ~

But there were two projects inside and so one of these projects will be completed before I can open another bin.

This is a baby quilt that was started probably 4-5 years ago!!  I think I have enough blocks to make a crib size quilt for a little boy.

There was also this Counted-Cross stitch that I had made for a shaker box top for my Mom probably about 35-40 years ago, yes, that's years!!  I took it off the box because it was so dirty and I need to think about what to do with it now since it is a circle.  Any ideas?

Ok, so here is the bin now - ready to add some fabric from the next bin, labeled and put away ~

This is kinda fun!!

Update on my Giveaway - I am going to be sending some fun Scottie dogs to Chiska over at Closet Quilters!!  Thank you to everyone for your great feedback!!
