I have been packing up my house and all the goodies in it in preparation for my move to Weston, ID. I came across this unusual calender that was given to me several years ago and I have just never hung it.
It is a wonderful piece. The crewel work is beautifully done in wool on what appears to be a linen background. The calender is the real unique part of it. Each month you slide the top piece from month to month. January through May are on one side and June through December are on the back side of the paper strip. The lower piece you move so that the first day of the month sits below the day it lands on - i.e. June 1st was on a Friday, so I moved the paper piece so the 1st was located under Friday. It measures approximately 16" x 20". Click on the photos to see the beautiful handwork.
I have no idea when this was made as my cousin (who gave it to me) bought it in an antique shop. If you are interested in owning this unique calender, lease just leave a comment saying why you would like it. Also, if you will post this giveaway on your blog with a link back to the giveaway page, you will get a second chance!!
The U-Haul is getting packed up on Wednesday, the 28th so I will pick the winner in the afternoon of Monday, June 25th!!

I am really happy to know you will now be only about 1 hour 15 minutes from my house. We will surely have the chance to meet someday now. Yes, I realize that is a little off topic, but how exciting!
I love the calendar! Adorable! would look lovely in my sewing room. Thanks for a chance. Good luck on your move!
My heart just skipped a beat when I saw this, how exquisite, are you really going to give this away?
The calendar is a beauty, that reminds me of my morther's embroidery she did on her wedding bed and table linen (trousseau) as well as on the baby outfits for her eight children.
I'm a 57 year old mother and grandmother myself now, missing my mother this week June 20th. for 29 years.... as she died when she was only 57 years old.
What a treasure that calendar is!
I am from The Netherlands; can I sign up for the draw and have a chance?
Best wishes for a smooth and happy move.
Cheers!

I love it, this is the type of handwork I dig for at flea markets and yard sales. I frame them and use them in my sewing room. I think this type of handwork is just beautiful, please enter me for the drawing and thank you for sharing such a unique piece. Bernie
I love the calendar and I would be thrilled to own this cutie, it resembles the embroidery of my grandma, she used to take diagrams from an old magazine and make them, we just have a few pieces left from her, some of them are missing, so that's why I would love to have it, when I see it, I will think about her :), love their colors, thank you for giving away this art craft

That beautiful calendar reminds me on my grandmother. She lived in Canada. She made that crewelwork too.
Maybe in the years 1952 - 1960.
I am living in The Netherlands, and I like to have a chance for become the calendar. With love, Ann
