It was in the downstairs of one of the gal's home and it was a fabulous space for a retreat!! Tammy set up tables for us and a cutting table and ironing board. Great lighting and lots of chatting and laughing and lots of food - chocolate galore and we all pitched in and made all our meals. Yummy, yummy!
On Tuesday morning, Tammy taught us how to make these cute little bags - it was a quilt as you go project ~
It was so much fun and I used some fabric that is completely out of my comfort zone and I LOVE it. I have not put in a zipper in almost 50 years so that was pretty scary, but look!!
I was more excited about the zipper than the rest of the bag!! LOL!!
Also on Tuesday I started working on a 4-patch Stack and Whack with this really cool fabric I found that I had forgotten I have. I love making Stack and Whack blocks because they are all so different and fun!!
By Wednesday night I had 27 blocks completed and there are still 3 more that need to be finished!! These blocks remind me of the art work of Peter Max who was a Pop Artist from the 1960s! Kinda wild, man!! Anyway, I digress!! I am excited about getting these blocks into a lap quilt for my studio!! It needs a little lively color!!
I made a little prototype for a skirt that I am making 21 skirts for a gal's wedding in August. All sizes from 5 years to 16 years old. The actual skirt will be made using black and white large chevron and yellow polka dot ties. I made the prototype to fit my friend Ashley's daughter, Claire - she is one year old.
Kind of blurry but hopefully you get the picture!! It definitely needs more of an "A" line and we decided the sash needs to be wider. Once Claire gets to try it on, I will get some feedback on what needs to be changed!!
A good time was had by all and I look forward to the Retreat again next summer!! Thanks girls, it was a blast!!

Sounds like you had a grand time. I've wanted to try the 4-patch posy stack and whack - yes, never done one.
A retreat in a home--sounds like great fun. And in the cool of a basement in the heat of summer would definitely be grand!
Hey, I have a cool basement!
Cute little zipper bag...maybe that could be a class for our "Sew Small Quilt Guild"? I can't wait to see your stack and whack when it is finished!
Love all your blocks and the bag is cute. Lovely couple of days
