Home from Guild and a GIVEAWAY!!
This is the most amazing guild that I'm in on Thursday night - Sew Small Quilt Guild.
The block challenge for November was learning to do a 9-patch and having fun with it. I got mine quilted minutes before leaving for Guild ~
And now I have some binding to do for Slow Stichin' Sunday!!
Yesterday I showed the darling Row Robin where I got to do the 2nd row and here is the second row for my Row Robin quilt ~
I forgot to bring my camera, so Tammy took a picture on her phone for me and sent it to my email. I am not sure how to crop it . . . So here it is! Carol, the gal running the Row Robin, did this row for me. Isn't it fabulous??
There is one darling gal, Lyn, in our Guild that does amazing work and THEN she embroiders and embellishes her quilts in the most delightful ways!! She LOVES Crab-apple Hill patterns, so when I found this pattern I bought it for her just because . . .
Well, boo-hoo!! She already had the pattern and has already made it up. So, I told her I would take her new pattern and give it away here. If you love Crab-apple Hill and Winter and embroidery, this is for you.

Tomorrow Night is Guild!
Last month at Guild, I picked a name out of a basket for the person I was to create the second row on her Row Robin. I picked Annette's name and here is her first row:
It measures 18" inches across. Look how tiny those little flowers are and she pieced them - no paper-piecing!! Yiks!!
Here is the row I made to add to it ~
In this Row Robin we are to use the fabrics the original owner provides but I did take a little poetic license and added the beehive fabric in the centers and the little bee fabric in the far right yellow block. Hope she won't mind!!
And here is how they look together if she keeps them in this sequence ~
I love all the bright colors. Tomorrow night I will be able to show you the second row on my Kaffe Row Robin.

Slow Stitchin' Sunday
I know, I know another strip quilt!! But for gifts and charity quilts they are beautiful, easy and relatively quick. This one is for a gal at work whose elderly Mom (well, sort of elderly, she is only 76) had radiation years ago on her leg and a few weeks ago, she was just walking and her femur broke. She is having a hard time with being shut in and unable to get around for a minimum of six weeks. So, I thought with winter coming on, a lap qult would raise her spirits.
I finished the binding this evening while watching a tender Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, The Magic of Ordinary Days. I made it from a Ladies' Album Jelly Roll. Nikki's Mom loves pink and flowers!!

A Really Fun Finish!!
My friend, Paula, and I go visit this darling couple in our neighborhood every month. I think they are both in their early nineties. Rex and Edna. Well, Rex was in WWII and was at the Battle of Hirojima. He is one of only 4 Utah survivors left.
I got the idea that I would like to do a big Quilts of Valor celebration and make him a quilt. But his daughter said that Edna was not doing well enough at the time and so we decided to just do a small presentation to him in their home next week (Veteran's Day week, but not on Veteran's Day because he has several speaking engagments at the local schools that day).
This is the quilt I pieced and sewed on the binding and Paula did the free motion quilting on her Mom's long arm.
We have also made one for Edna that I will take a picture of as soon as I get the binding on. We figured Rex could not have done so much with his life if it had not been for his darling Edna supporting him all these many years. Their daughter and her hubby are coming up from Salt Lake for the presentation. I'll take pictures!!
