I have been teaching a couple of the young gals in my neighborhood how to quilt. I think it is so important to have the wonderful tradition of quilting passed onto the younger generations. And I am so fortunate to have these two young women ask me to pass down my love for quilt-making to them!!
This is Ashley ~
And her darling son, Simon!! Mom said he was in a very serious mood this morning!! LOL!!
And here is Ashley's quilt for a friend's baby. She used a fleese, flannel and cotton for the squares. Then, those little ribbon tabs at each edge are to clip a baby toy to, so that when the baby is having playtime with her toys on the quilt, they will stay close by. I thought that was such a cool idea!!
She did EVERYTHING ~ cut the blocks, pieced the front, did the quilting on my Baby Lock Tiara, machine stitched the binding on and then hand-finished the binding and sewed the label on by hand.
The next quilt Askley is going to do is a UFO of her Mother's that she wants to finish for her for Christmas. Her Mom's eyesight is just not good enough to work on quilts anymore. That will be a fun surprise for Mom as she has no idea Ashley is going to finish it for her.
Great job, Ashley!! Your friend and her baby are going to LOVE this heirloom!!
