April's Doll Quilt for Joni and . . .

Well, I haven't heard yet but I am hoping that Joni has received her April Doll Quilt in the Doll Quilt Swap as I sent it to her last week.  I have shown you the back previously and now here is a picture of the front ~

I have never tried anything like this and it was fun to make.

Below are the close ups of the four different blocks and if you click on a picture, you can see the quilting.  This is the first time I have ever tried "custom" quilting.  Compared to the gorgeous quilting so many of you do, it's like  child's play but I sure had fun doing it.  And it's funny, how the eye can see something in a photo that it could not see in person!!  It will just make me think more in the future as I put quilts together!!

And now, here is a sneeky peek at the May Doll Quilt Swap quilt I made for Wilma.  I showed you the darling quilt she made for me this month in an earlier post!!

I just need to put a label on it and then it will go out in the mail on Thursday, so hopefully I can show you the front next week!!

Oh, man, it is sooooooooooooo nice to be able to do some quilting again!!

A Sneeky Peek of My Doll Quilt for Joni

I had time over the weekend to finish my very first doll quilt in the Doll Quilt Swap.  I can't show you the front side of the quilt until Joni receives it but I don't think taking a peek at the back will wreak Joni's surprise as she knows I am using the Salt Air line by Cosmo Cricket ~

May's Doll Quilt Swap Quilt is Here!!

And boy, is it a cutie!!  Wilma from Wilma's World in North Carolina is my May swap partner and some of the quilting on this darling quilt is hand quilted!!  Wow!!  And the buttons give it the perfect touch!!  And look at the cute fabric Wilma used on the back with her own label!!

Also in the package was this very cool necklace!!  When I emailed Wilma to thank her for the quilt and the necklace, she informed me that the necklace is a "Quilter's Necklace".  You would have to see it in person to really appreciate it - Wilma has glued two quarters together and put them on a chain, so it is a Fat Quarter!!!  Pretty funny, huh!!  Love it!!

Thank you Wilma!!  And your quilt is hopefully going to get to you by the end of the month or the first part of June!!  For some reason I am not getting a whole lot done these days!!

My First Doll Quilt in the Doll Quilt Swap

April was the first month in the Doll Quilt Swap ~



And just before my Dad fell the middle of April, I received my first doll quilt from my swap partner, Joni.  It is just darling!!

An Angel Has Gone to Heaven

My sweet Dad fell a couple of times about three weeks ago and the second fall changed our lives forever.  He passed away the morning of May 1, 2012.  He died sweetly and quietly and with all the dignity he had lived his life.  I am going to miss him more than I think I realize at this time.  I will be popping in every so often over the next few weeks.  Please keep me in your prayers!!
