Happy Belated Birthday from Janet O.

Oh, how fun!!  Janet O. from Rogue Quilter took me to lunch yesterday at one of our favorite Mexican food resturants and surprised me with these wonderful goodies ~

Several years ago Janet gifted me one of her darling batik minis but now I have one of her miniature patriotic quilts!!  Hoo! Hoo!!  This one is made with mens' shirts!!  AND more of her handmade soap!!  My favorite of her soaps is the one she makes with clove and I got one!!

Thank you so much, Janet!!  It was so fun to catch up yesterday and I LOVE my little gifts!!

Baby Hats for Hospital

I am not sure why, but I have just not been too excited about sewing and quilting lately, so I have decided to pull out all my yarns that can be turned into baby and preemie hats (depending on the size of the yarn) and work on those while I binge watch Downton Abby from season one!!

I am also working on my friend's sweater but it does not look much different from the last pictures I showed except it is longer.  So, when I get to the point where I start the cabling at the bodice, I will post more pictures.  You can see the sweater HERE

Slow Sunday Stitchin' a Day Late . . .

In December on Facebook, a yearlong sock Knit From Stash KAL (Knit-a-Long) was offred and since I have been trying to learn to make socks, I deiced this might be a good time for me to learn and actually get some socks made.

The January sock is Feldspar and the KAL is hosted by Heather Walker from Yarn Yenta.  Heather is also the designer of the sock patterns.

So here is how far I have completed on Feldspar ~

With all the frogging, I think the leg part only took me about 5-6 hours!!  Will I get better as the year goes on?  We will see!!

P.S.  Hey Carol, over at The Polka Dot Chicken, lookie, lookie, I am really getting a sock done!!  Well, that's the plan anyway!!

Snow Day!!

Remember when we were kids and the best thing in the world was a snow day?  We got to stay home and play and bug our moms and just have a good old time!!

Well, today is a snow day here!!  We have had over 12 inches of snow since last night and it is STILL snowing!!

This is our darling 90 year old neighbor out with his snow blower cleaning all the neighbors' walks and driveways!!

These are the huge piles of snow that will remain probably for many weeks, if not months!!  So much for global warming!!  ;-0

And I am in the house, toasty warm and working on a quilt top!!  With a cup of hot chocolate!!
