My First One Flower Wednesday

As I have mentioned several times in the past, I have fallen in love with the hexie flower, so much so that I am now a member of the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap and I just joined the One Flower Wednesday group.

I learned a lot on the first flowers I made in the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap for Deb in Australia.  But I even learned more on this first One Flower Wednesday flower.

I figured out that if I am going to use the big, bright prints by Kaffe Fassett, I think I want to fussy cut them.  Also, I need to use a thread that is closer in color to the fabric I am using instead of a nice neutral light grey that I use for everything else.  I think I am going to get one of the BobbinSaver rings with prewound bobbins in a cacophony of colors from Superior Threads

Have a great day, everyone!!

  9. Your flower is beautiful! You have found the best use for Kaffe Fasset prints yet!
I bought a BobbinSaver not long ago and love having all of those threads for stitching petals together. I even just ordered the second ring just recently released with different colors.

  12. Welcome to One Flower Wednesday! Your first flower is just beautiful, such pretty fabric. You are so right about thread colour, it should be matched to the fabric for best results.

  13. Great fabric for your flower, pretty. I have one of those bobbon savers, never thought of using it for all my different colours of thread for my hexies. Sure would be better than all the spools I have getting tangled on my side table.

  14. Great hexi! I'm also part of the Inchy Hexagon swap. I purchased Superior Threads bobbin ring thinking the same thing as you. My experience is that the Superior thread just doesn't hold up well to stitching hexi's together -- it literally shreds. Mettler is my first choice followed closely by
    Aurafil. Just food for thought.

  15. What a great idea to use the bobbin buddy to have lots of threads without a birds nest in your sewing bag. Yes I admit that I am speaking from experience!
