We Had Some Early morning Excitment Right Next Door!!

My neighbors are elderly and Mr. S. had just gone outside to turn his early morning water on the lawn and he had moved around to the other side of his house.

Then all of a sudden I see police cars and other official-looking cars pull up to his house and in his driveway.  I thought, "oh no!!" Something has happened to Mr. S.

Then I heard a cloppity-clop-clop down the driveway and I looked out my window and saw all these guys running into Mr. S's backyard.

I ran for my camera, yanked the screen off the window and hung out trying to get a picture but was too late!

Here is what they were after ~

This picture is after the tranquizer dart had subdued this gorgeous tall, lanky, majestic animal!!  He had come down from the mountains.

Here is the story from the newspaper:

A young bull moose that made its way into Logan was tranquilized and moved this morning.
After receiving word at about 6:30 a.m. that the moose was in a neighborhood north of Adams Elementary, officers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, Logan City Police Department and Cache County Sheriff’s Department responded and followed the animal for over an hour before DWR biologist Darren DeBloois was able to shoot it with a tranquilizer dart. The bull moose, which DeBloois estimated was two years old, collapsed in a parking strip along 100 East at about 670 North just before 8:15 a.m.
DeBloois said just last week he caught the same moose, which had a red tag in its ear, in a neighborhood in Perry and transported it to the Hardware Ranch area.
“It’s not very common (that a moose would again make its way into an urban area),” DeBloois said. “He probably got kicked off his mom.”
He estimated that the young bull weighed between 800 and 1,000 pounds. It took eight men to lift a tarp upon which the moose had been rolled to place it in a waiting horse trailer. DeBloois then administered the antidote, and within minutes the bull was on its feet.
During the pursuit — which at one point led to him being trapped between a chainlink fence and a metal shed — the moose injured his right antler and his left forefoot. It cleared several fences during the chase.
“These guys are pretty amazing, what they can hurdle,” DeBloois noted.
At one point, as the officers followed the moose, they spooked a deer from behind a house. After the moose was sedated, passers-by stopped to snap cell phone pictures and ask questions.
DeBloois said it was the first time he had been called to respond to a moose in Logan this summer. He said a veterinarian would examine the animal before it was released, probably high up Logan Canyon in the Sinks area, or possibly near Deseret Ranch in Rich County.
Ya just never know when your morning is going to start with a cloppity-clop-clop down the neighbor's driveway!!

Wow, Kris, didn't know your neighborhood attracted that kind of inhabitant. : )
Mom was telling me about the moose today, but I never dreamed it was your neck of the woods.

We live in NW Illinois and we have we think two black bears roaming. We know they are bears, but not sure if it is two or just one that is getting around quickly. It has been spotted about 10 miles from my home. To much urban life and they are looking for food.

What a way to start the day. We have lots of deer in our back yard but not a single moose.

I guess your neighbor was quite surprised when he found that guy in his yard, lol. I get lots of deer and little critters and unfortunately a skunk who wafted his smell into my bedroom last night, ugh. Nothing worse than trying to enjoy a cool night breeze with a skunk around.

Only ever had a kangaroo hopping up the street... we don't have moose here. What a way to start the day. Glad all involved are okay.
