Fun, Fun Project!!

One of my elderly neighbors (yeah, she's even older than me!!) asked me to help her with a baby quilt for a new great-grandbaby.  In her younger years she was an artist and drew this darling heavenly baby, then she took it someplace and had it reproduced on fabric ~

She wants to hand quilt it, but she asked me to do the piecing!!  What a nice treat for me!!

Is this sweet or what!!  I am going to ask her if I can take a picture of it when it is all quilted and the binding is on!!

Well, It's About Time for a GIVEAWAY!!!

The weather is getting hot here - supposed to be 98 degrees today and 101 on Saturday!!!  Yiks!!!  As such, I don't seem to be getting much done so I decided I needed some motivation - how about you??

The result - a GIVEAWAY!!

That cute Janet over at Rogue Quilter has been inspiring me for weeks with all her wonderful patriotic quilts and when I dropped into her blog this morning, there were lots more goodies!!  All "Flag Waving" quilts as Janet says!!  And then I saw that she has told you where she got some of her gorgeous patriotic fabrics - from my Etsy shop!!  Whoo! Hoo!!

I love all the quilts she has been working on and receiving in swaps, but this one is my most favorite ~

And then this one that Janet made for Gayle in their little swap is fabulous and Janet forgot to mention that she HAND quilted this sweet quilt!!

So, Janet's quilts are my motivation and since it is getting close to July 4th - a most patriotic day here in the States - I thought I would make a patriotic quilt for my kitchen table and giveaway some of the darling fabrics that Janet used in her quilts!!

8 - FQs of Old Glory Gatherings by Primitive Gatherings for Moda Fabrics

So, if you would like a chance to win these FQs, just leave me a comment as to the patriotic quilt you would like to make with these great fabrics!!

Also, if you want to post this giveaway on your blog, just let me know in a separate comment and you will get a second chance to win!!  And I love new followers!!

For all my lovely international friends, these fabrics would be darling in any quilt - not necessarity just a "Janet O. Flag Waving" quilt!!  Please join us!!  ;-))

I will pick a winner on July 3rd!!

Yay!! Another Finish!!

I seem to be on a roll!!  The baby was due this coming June 23rd, but complications arose and my friend Shannon was to be induced yesterday!!

When Shannon and her hubby came over to pick out fabric, they said they wanted brown, blue and green.  I made a face and said ick!!  But we found a great combination of those colors and they love it.

I am waiting to hear from them today to find out date and weight of baby Chad before I make a label!!

It Never Ceases to Amaze Me . . .

at how wonderful and generous folks can be!!  Look at what came in the mail for me ~

This was sent to me by a darling new friend I have met here through my blog. Her name is Joy and her name describes her perfectly.  Joy creates art quilts and was a finalist in McCall's Quilting Quilt Design Star 2012 Amateur Category! Many of you voted for her entry in the final round.  Well, she has a new passion and that is making these amazing baskets (and this basket is big enough for a cat to curl up in and take a nap).

Look at the incredible detail she added all the way around the outside - Click on pictures to see up close ~

And the very, very best part of the basket is that she used all Kaffe Fassett fabrics - my most favorite designer!!

Oh, Joy, how can I ever, ever thank you!!  I think this basket is in the top 10 gifts I have rececived over my entire life!!  I'll think of you every day as I look at it!!  :-))  Woo!  Hoo!!  I am one blessed kid!!

Well, It's About Time . . .

I finished this apron.  My friend Becky loaned me her apron almost 2 months ago (one that she usually wears on a daily basis) so I could use it as a model to try out making aprons.

And with everything going on the past few months, I kept putting it aside.  But now it's done and Becky can have her apron back!!

Do any of you wear an apron??

Saturday's Smile!!

This is my friend's little dog, Nit Noi, in her Green Hornet mask!!

I Have a Powerful New Respect . . .

for all of you quilters who create queen-size quilts!!  A dear friend of mine asked if I would make a queen-size quilt for her son and new daughter-in-law as their wedding present from my friend and her hubby.

I said yes, having no idea what I was getting myself into as I have never made this large of a quilt before.

The new bride chose the the collection Shades of Black by Me & My Sister Designs and then I added the red for a bit of pop.

As much as I loved how the front turned out, I actually like the back of the quilt the best ~

With the extra lighter charms, I played with the back and offset five nine-patches down near the middle.

Sue Baddley over at Summit Creek Quilts did a gorgeous job of quilting it for me.  Thank you, Sue, the quilting really gave this quilt a professional look ~

Whenever I make a quilt for someone I always ask them to chose a Scripture for the label to help us to always remember our God and that it is He who provides everything for us.

I think finishing this queen-size quilt and taking it to my friend this afternoon is sort of like having someone ask you right after your baby is born if you are going to have anymore - NO!!!  Until next time!!!
