Last Sneeky Peek for Trish's June Doll Quilt Swap Quilt

Trish's quilt went into the mail this morning, although I am sure Trish won't believe it until it arrives at her home - I have been promising her it was coming for weeks!!!  I will post the whole quilt as soon as I know Trish has received it - it turned out quite cute, if I say so myself!!

Also, I will be choosing a winner for the Jan Patek pattern this evening!!!

Christmas in July Giveaway

I just got some darling Jan Patek quilt patterns for my Etsy store and thought I would give one away.  You will have your choice from the following patterns ~

 Harvest Home

 Santa Claus Lane

 Heart to Heart

Little Cabin

Please leave a comment telling me which pattern you would like and why.  Also, if you want to become a follower, you will get a second chance.

My favorite is Santa Claus Lane and I am now going through my stash to find the "just right" fabrics.

Postscript!!!

Ha! Ha!!  I'll bet you thought you were going to have to wait until December for the giveaway drawing since I forgot to post a drawing date.

Well, I will pick a winner on the 31st of July!!  That way it will still be Christmas in July!!

A Finish for Dear Friends!!

Last fall I finished a quilt, except for the binding and the label, for dear friends of my Dad's and mine.  Life got in the way and it sat in a box until yesterday afternoon.  I cut the binding and spent the day attaching it.  The label is ready to sew on in the morning and then in the mail to Bob and Jeanne.

Here is the quilt on the front porch.  This was a hard quilt for me to not keep.  I love the colors and Sue did such a beautiful job on the quilting.

Below is the tree right by the front porch with all the old bird houses in it.  Click on the picture to better see the old houses.  I haven't seen any birds or babies though.

Oh, how I love living here!!

Saturday's Smile!!

While Trying to Decide . . .

where I can set my quilting machine up in my new place, I took the opportunity to work up the quilt top  for the nice guy that took two days out of his life to help me move up here to this gorgeous area!!

I love making these strip quilts from a Jelly Roll.  They are quick and always turn out so beautifully.

This is Cooper, Pollie's new boyfriend.  He is quite the quilt connoisseur!!

Here is Pollie trying to distract Cooper from enjoying this quilt to it's fullest glory!!

And this is Janice, my landlady and Cooper's Mom discussing the finer points of quilt judging.  I think I heard Cooper tell his Mom that the white gloves were definitely out!!

Sneeky Peek of June Doll Quilt

Well, with all the stuff going on in my life and with the big move I just made, I am a month behind on my Doll Quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap.  Trish, my swap partner has been VERY, VERY patient with me but I wanted to make sure she got her June quilt before the end of July.  So I got started on it today and here is a little peek for Trish ~

The theme for June was something borrowed, something blue, but since Trish is a Veteran, I dropped the borrowed part and will concentrate on the blue with a bit of red and tea-stained white mixed in!!  Stay tuned for the rest of the quilt!!

Quilt Top Finished!!

Well, my studio is neat enough for me to be able to finish the quilt top I started for my younger brother (ha! ha! he'll be 60 this year) that I started for him before I moved.
For many years now my brother has made his living throwing a couple of newspaper routes and he loves black and white.

So, I thought I would put my little twist on his quilt by adding some red.  If you ask the question, what is black and white and READ all over, what do you have??  A Newspaper!!  The back of the quilt is going to be red all over!!

And I have always loved when some of you display your quilts in beautiful places and I always wanted to display mine the same way!!  Now I can - this is my back yard!!

Hope he likes it - I'll post the finished quilt when it is all done!!  Feels good to have a project that is close to being finished!!

I Arrived Safely at My New Home

But on the way up, all through Utah there were lots and lots of fires!

This fire was so bad that when I pulled over to get gas, there was so much ash falling that it almost seemed like it was snowing.

Both the 24 foot Budget truck and my van functioned well and got us here!
And it was so funny.  I had about 15 men and boys help me to load the truck in St. George and another 15 or so to unload the truck in Weston.  I heard one older guy ask another of the men how can one old woman have a 24 foot truck full of stuff when she has so little furniture??  The other guy said, my wife says she is a quilter!!  I laughed out loud!!

Here is my new home and my new surroundings!!  It's like I am going to be a park ranger all day long!!

And here are the first two days of setting up my studio!!  It is going to be wonderful when it is done!!

I think I have just begun a wonderful new adventure!!

It's Moving Day!!

This afternoon the 24 foot U-Haul will be sitting out front and at 6p.m. there will be about 15 folks here to help pack it up, clean the house and eat pizza!!

Here is what my Quilt Studio and house now look like ~

Pollie is taking it in stride!!!
I'll be so happy when we are safely through this move!!

See you all at the other end!!
