Help - I Need Professional Fabric Opinions - Giveaway!!

Hi Everyone!!

Here it is several hours later since my post this morning about dying fabric.  I dyed 3 yards in what is called a "Value Parfait" and I used blue as my dye.

Now, the three swatches are supposed to be light, medium and dark.  I am thinking that the light and medium pieces are very similar so I will need to work on that.

I would sure love to get some opinions from all of you to let me know if you like the pieces, what is wrong, if anything, and would this be something you would buy.  Please remember that these are one yard pieces and they will each be cut up into 4 FQs because right now I think they all look like Rorschach Inkblot Tests or full body x-rays!!  LOL!!!

As appreciation for you leaving a comment critiquing these pieces, I am going to give away a set of three FQs, one of each color value.

Actually, I was amazed at how much better the pieces looked once they were cut up into a FQ.

Also, if you want to post this giveaway on your blog, just let me know in your comment and you will get an additional chance.

Thank you everyone for leaving me your professional opinions!!  I am thinking that I am loving this fabric dying gig!!

I think they look great! we're all too critical of our own work.

They looks really good, Kris, and I agree that when they were cut, you can tell that there is a definite difference in all three shades. :}

I personally think they look great just the way they are. Blue is my favorite color so I might not be impartial.

When I look at the first set of pictures it's hard to see the contrast but the last picture with them all together is amazing! I think the contrast is wonderful. When I was looking at the first pictures I was wondering if you were going to ask us what we saw in the fabric lol.

They look so much better once you have them cut into FQ's and pressed. I can see the light, med & dark very well. I think laying the fabrics beside each other also shows the different shades. I hope we get to see other color as you work on this process.

Kris, it is looking very good. This process of dying is my favorite of all. I have some 6 step that I have been saving for special projects. Plus I want to be able to dye a few more colors someday. I will post them to my blog next week just for you though so you can see what a 6 color graduation looks like.

My brain is seeing faces in them, lol.
I think they would make great sky backgrounds and the variations would be wonderful when put into blocks and appliques.

I'm with Martha. I love blue so they look spectacular to me and you can see the grading much better when in FQ's. They do look a little like brain scans to me!

Kris -
When I looked at the first pictures I could not tell a whole lot of difference in color -- but when you showed the fat quarters, it was VERY obvious! I have never dyed fabric, and am one who would buy rather than dye (do you believe that that rhymes??) but I love the results!

I blogged about the giveaway: http://quiltyascharged.blogspot.com/2011/09/giveaway-at-lavender-quilts.html

The shades are much more obvious when placed next to eachother.

I love all of them but then, I love blue no matter what color it is. Thanks for the opportunity to win fabric in these beautiful colors.

I love your dying! beautiful blues and I think there is enough difference between the medium and the light. At least in the fq pictures it looks ok.

I think they're fab! and cutting them seems to accentuate the colour differences!

Had you already altered the colors before you cut them into FQs? Because in the first photo, I really couldn't tell much difference between the light and medium, but that difference is very obvious in the last photo. I think they're lovely, and they look very similar to batiks. Good job!

I like the way they look in the second picture. I agree that they would make a great sky, especially in a landscape quilt. Great job!

I like all three and can easily see the difference between them in your second photo. Blue is my favorite color so think your sample is great. Thanks for the giveaway.

I think all three are very nice. It is har to tell the difference in the first two, but I love the pictures you can see in them. The fat-quarters really show the shades. Great light, medium and dark. Did you alter them any before cutting?

Love these blues!

These are so beautiful! I can tell the difference between the light and the medium. You did such a fabulous job. I would love to work with these. I agree with the commenters who said these would make such a gorgeous sky for an artsy quilt.

You have done a wonderful jog. We can't tell the difference between your fabrics and industrial ones. I love the blue tones. Maybe i'm the lucky winner.
